Affordable HDTV : Panasonic Viera Series TC-P50C2 50" Plasma

I was in Futureshop yesterday and I saw this TV at a ridiculously low price.  I thought I had to take a look.  Panasonic's 50-inch VIERA TC-P50C2 Plasma HDTV has a clear picture and nice size.  As usual my skepticism crept in and I began to inspect the specifications and the rest of the TV.
(FYI these features are standard for the following models of the VIERA TC Series 42"-58" TVs TC-P42C2, TC-P46C2, TC-L42U22, TC-P42U2, TC-P42S2, TC-L42U25, TC-P46S2, TC-L42D2, TC-P50C2, TC-P50U2, TC-P50S2, TC-P54S2, TC-P50G20, TC-P54G20, TC-P50VT20, TC-P50VT25, TC-P54VT25, TC-P58S1, TC-P58S2)
Panasonic Viera TC-P50C2 50" Plasma
This TV has just enough connectivity and features:
  • 50-inch Plasma HDTV with 720p HD resolution; 720 lines of moving picture resolution
  • THX Mode creates brilliant color reproduction
  • 600Hz Sub-field Drive technology for superb full-HD motion; 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
  • VIERA Image Viewer for JPEG image slideshows directly from an SD memory card
  • Inputs: 2 HDMI, 2 component, 2 composite, 1 digital audio output
  • Includes removable stand; measures 48 x 32.2 x 14.1 inches with stand
It does feature a few unique technologies:

600Hz Sub-field Drive: 600Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1080 lines of resolution. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology, which converts the motion in each scene into data. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce after effects.

VIERA Image Viewer: View full-HD images with the integrated SD card slot, enabling you to view JPEG photos captured from your digital camera or camcorder on the big screen. Navigate your images via an easy-to-use thumbnail display.

VIERA Link: Allows the interlinked operation of various AV devices--from DVD and Blu-ray Disc players to home theater sound systems to digital cameras and camcorders--using only the VIERA remote control by simply connecting the devices to each other by an HDMI cable.

Now I'm sure many of you are saying it only does 720p forget it.  This would also be an excellent TV for your main TV if you're on a tight budget or even if you just use your TV for certain purposes(Television, Gaming). Really most HDTV and Video game sources are 720p anyways.  So also, if you're buying a TV for your bedroom, or a second TV this could be an excellent option.  At $599cdn on sale you really can't go wrong for a 50" Plasma TV so quit your complaining. (The original price at futureshop was $699cdn)
