For the next set of posts I was planning on covering speakers. While looking I came across this deal. This setup purchased as components would cost well over $3000 MSRP. Check this deal out....
This is a 5.1 Klipsch Reference series 42 II package. The reason I'm reviewing this package is I came across a crazy deal, a steal in fact. Its made up of 2 Klipsch RF-42 II Floorstanding Speakers, 2 rear surrounds, a center channel and a Velodyne subwoofer and a Yamaha reciever.
This system is an excellent system. As I'm sure you've noticed while reading previous posts, I'm not much of a home theater in a box fan and I would recommend saving your money till you could purchase a deal like this. You wont regret it. I've heard these speakers before and they create an excellent well balanced sound. Now the Reference series is the top of the line in most speaker companies and its the same with Klipsch. While this is the smallest and cheapest model in the line. I'm reviewing it here because this is not an inferior product. In fact, I bet it would outperfom any home theater package or home theater in a box you can find, at this price.
Klipsch RF-42 II Speakers
These Tower Speakers are perfect for fronts. With an enhanced 1" titanium horn-loaded tweeter, dual high-output 4.5" woofers these speakers also are seized very reasonably at 34" H x 6.8” W x 10" D. The same woofers and tweeters are in the center channel and the surrounds (bookshelves) making the surround sound balanced with all the same speakers.
These are some of the features boasted by Klipsch about this line of speakers:
- Every Reference speaker utilizes our Tractrix® Horn technology for lifelike sound, more output using less energy, improved reliability, reduced distortion and a large soundstage with well-defined imaging.
- Our light, yet rigid Cerametallic woofer cones feature specially treated aluminum to help better dampen and prevent distortion.
- Titanium tweeter with linear travel suspension—trickle-down technology from our flagship Palladium Series—provides an open, natural sound, making you feel as if you’re in the studio with the recording artist or on the set of a film.
- Rounded feet offer less protrusion, giving the cabinet a slimmer, more sophisticated look with new copper accents.
Velodyne has been solid for subwoofers as long as I can remember. This is a
The Impact-10 has a front-firing 10-inch long throw woofer powered by a 150-watt Class-D amplifier. The frequency response starts at 32Hz. Thats as low as anyones going to require. If you're just looking for a sub this would be a good choice it sells for $300-$400usd.
Yamaha RX-V467 Surround Receiver
Now this receivers MSRP is just under $400. Just so happens coincidentally I have already reviewed it here Check it OUT
Now listen here, if I didn't have three home theaters and over 15 full size speakers in my home already I would buy this package in a second. This system will create a sound that will blow you away, and these speakers are an investment worth making. You will own them the rest of your life. If you at some point want to use the receiver elsewhere in your home and upgrade to a 7.1, 7.2, 9.1. 9.2 system or whatever you can just add speakers to this speaker system to create what you want. But I'll finally heres the price.... $1199usd that's right I found this price @ audioholics
Now this deal is unbeatable. I've seen just the speakers sell for nearly $3000 and with the sub and the receiver? Hell find the money. If you have no system and you want one, why not start in style.
